Latest News - July 2026

This year our Open Gardens was held at Paloma House on the afternoon of Sunday 14 June. We had glorious sunshine and everyone had a wonderful day in the exquisite garden at Paloma. Our thanks go to Matt and Cat for sharing their beautiful parkland garden. The garden looked stunning in a relaxed Country House garden style. Visitors were welcomed with a glass of Pimms to enjoy and the tea tent was extremely busy with a fantastic selection of delicious cakes. Our Plant and Produce Stall was very popular with bargains to be had! The profits for the event will be shared between the Garden Club and Wessex Rivers Trust. Once again, the hard working Committee are to be congratulated on the excellent organisation and running of the day and of course a special thanks to all the visitors who supported us by attending.

By the time that this edition of the Latest News is published we will have enjoyed an afternoon visit to ‘The Manor House’ at Upton Grey, which members are very much looking forward to. On Wednesday 8 July we will be visiting Hambledon House by kind permission of Capt & Mrs David Hart Dyke.

Our next event is the Summer Show, which will be held on Saturday 15 August at Froxfield Village hall at 2pm. Copies of the Show Schedule will be available from Froxfield Stores shortly.

Entries may be submitted by all residents of Froxfield and Privett and by members of the club whose 2025/2026 subscriptions was paid by 31 July 2026. All horticultural exhibits must be bone fide produce of the exhibitor, grown by them for a period of at least 6 weeks prior to the date of the Show. This does not apply to the Flower Arrangement classes. We will be serving tea and cakes, there will be a Bring and Buy Plant, Cake and Produce Stall and of course a Raffle with profits going to the Garden Club. Gifts of any suitable items will be greatly appreciated. Prize giving will be at 3.30pm.

We are very much looking forward to seeing many of you at our Summer Show and hope that you may feel like joining in. Do come along and enjoy all the exhibits of flowers, fruit, vegetables and cookery – enjoy tea and delicious cake too!

Our next meeting and AGM is on Tuesday 13 October 2026 at Privett Village Hall at 7.30pm and our speaker will be Kevin Hobbs.
