Spring Show 2023
The members of Froxfield and Privett Garden Club rose to the challenge provided by this winter’s weather conditions to provide a colourful and varied show at Privett Village Hall on Saturday 25th March.
Chairman Elizabeth Houghton-Connell said that “The weather this Spring has not been kind to us. First damp and mild, then snow and heavy frosts followed by wind and rain. A struggle for any Spring flower and yet we have so many beautiful entries.”
Unsurprisingly some horticultural classes had few entries, but there were large numbers in the single yellow daffodil, miniature daffodil and hellebore classes. The flower arranging and cookery classes were well supported especially the arrangement in a tin can and the banana muffins.
The children from Froxfield Primary School, Froxfield Pre-School and Privett Nursery School contributed colourful pictures and collages of spring flowers and new life.
Show Secretary Christine Stephens reported that all the independent judges had been impressed by the high standard of the entries in the show.
The afternoon was well supported by members, friends and visitors who joined us for tea and cake whilst looking at the exhibits.
