Our Zoom meeting on Wednesday 14th January was an excellent talk by Arthur Cole, the Head Gardener at The Newt in Somerset. It was wonderful to see the beautiful gardens at The Newt and Arthur explained the history of the property and how the gardens have evolved over over the years especially recent times. He also explained how The Newt has diversified with the dairy herd, cheesemaking,and of course the luxury hotel and B&B accommodation. They are now a very large employers in the local area with over 600 staff.

Our next meeting is entitled ‘Birds in your garden’ by Steve Oakes and will take place at Froxfield Village Hall on Wednesday 11th February at 7.30pm.

We have two events coming up in March. On Wednesday 18th March Rosy Hardy is coming to talk to us on ‘Using herbaceous perennials in mixed borders’ at Froxfield Village Hall at 7.30pm. Rosy is a very famous plant expert and multi RHS Chelsea Gold Medal winner and we are very lucky to have her speaking to us again. On Saturday 28th March we have our Spring Show which is always a lovely event at Privett Village Hall with the beautiful displays of daffodils and spring flowers.
